Undergoing a facelift is a big decision regardless of the extent of lifting that takes place. This surgical facial rejuvenation procedure improves the appearance of the lower face, cheeks, and jawline using precise tissue repositioning and hidden incisions. It offers significant benefits and lasting improvements that patients love. Because we know you want to get the best possible results should you choose to get a facelift, we want to offer a few things you’ll want to avoid after this surgery.
Avoid Being a Superhero
There are a few ways that people try to be superheroes after a facelift or other type of surgery. One is that they tempt their limits in terms of pain relief. On the day of surgery, the general or local anesthetic that is used can take several hours to wear off completely. Patients may feel “well enough” that they believe they do not need to start their pain medication as directed. This is a mistake. Soreness and tenderness are expected after surgery and should be mitigated with appropriate medication so unnecessary stress can be avoided. Another way patients try to be superheroes is by continuing to take care of others during their surgical recovery. This taxes the body and can inhibit proper healing. If you’re going to schedule a facelift, arrange adequate support so you can prioritize your postoperative healing.
Avoid Being a Beauty Queen
Who doesn’t want to feel as good as possible as soon as possible after a surgical procedure? We get it! However, we must advise you to avoid scheduling beauty treatments too soon after your facelift. If your surgery falls on the calendar at a time you would normally get your hair done, reschedule so your hair is gorgeous before your procedure. After a facelift, you will not be able to wash your hair for a few days. You may not even be able to use dry shampoo since particles could stick to your incisions. Also, you won’t be wearing makeup for a while. This is ok. The wait to return to your normal beauty routine will be worth it.
After a facelift, there are a few things you won’t do for a couple of weeks. However, once your healing is complete, you can resume all of your normal activities looking and feeling like your best self.
